Simpatico Word Cloud

Hi. I’m a playwright and filmmaker living in Rhinebeck, NY. I went to Northwestern University, and received my MFA from Southern New Hampshire University. I’ve been with my husband Robert for over 33 years (as of August, 2020). My interests range from opera to pro wrestling to turn of the century vaudeville to mythic archetypes to grand guignol and old black and white movies.

My oratorio adaptation of Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, with score by Will Todd, was recently produced in London by Opera Holland Park. Prior to that, my opera The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing, with a score by Justine F. Chen, was produced by Chicago Opera Theater, 2023. My adaptation of Twelve Angry Men, with music and lyrics by Michael Holland, had a second production at Asolo Rep in Sarasota, directed by Peter Rothstein, who also directed the Turing opera.

My play, EX-GAY BAR, received Honorable Mention in the 2021 Carlo Annoni International Playwriting Prize, and was featured in the Hudson Valley Theatre Festival. My most recent play, THE LAST SUPPER, is a grand guignol dark comedy about the end of the world and how we get there.

    Hello David,

I’m coming to you by way of Mike Bloom’s facebook page, and enjoyed N.U. with you…

Well, I know I enjoyed you. I couldn’t possibly remember right now in what classes, but as I continue to awaken these memories I’m sure I’ll remember something.

I too have been with my Husband Paul for just 20 years as of Next June 2009.

I look forward to your re-befriending me in face book and am really impressed with your Musical.

    Hello My Darling,

No report of the Glen or Glenda reading? No pics from your various travels? Maybe you need an assistant to update your page for you. And no, that is not me volunteering. It would be best to just get yourself an intern. After all, isn’t that what one does at this stage in your career?

Love your face, love your space, love you, xoxo

    Dear David,

I saw WHIDA PERU last night and was knocked out. Some of the best musical theatre in many a long day! Ever consider writing opera libretti? If so, I’d encourage you to check out the Composer Librettist Development fellowship program at American Lyric Theatre.

    All best,

Just ilstened to The Screams of Kitty Genovese (2006 NY concert cast). Great but who is singing what? Is there any way to match the selections with the singers?

Fred, Thanks for giving it a listen. You can find the libretto to the revised score here: https://newplayexchange.org/plays/64301/screams-kitty-genovese-score-will-todd
you can download the libretto for perusal; we made a bunch of changes for the final 2009 UK version, which is now the official version, so when you read it, the libretto is more recent than the score; but you can also listen to the UK version that follows the libretto more closely, on the same link; on the lower right side of the page, under ‘supporting materials’ just hit the ‘music samples’ link.
      anyway thanks again for listening.
